Does securing an overnight reservation at the lodge guarantee hiking access from the hilltop parking lot to the lodge?

What would be the more favorable time to visit; April or May?

Is this a doable visit: hike in from the hilltop, overnight at the lodge, the following day spent hiking to the falls, another
overnight, then hiking out the following day?

Yes, a lodge reservation guarantees you access to the reservation and the falls.

April is beautiful, late April especially.
Early May is also great, late May begins to warm more.

That itinerary would work fine. You might even visit the falls more than that.
